Flying Kite Quilt with Louise

a Quilt In A Day Pattern Designed by Eleanor Burns

In this three session class, quilters will make Four Patches, with spinning seams and “Kites” using the 4 ½ On-Point Ruler as they make blocks for a Flying Kite Quilt.

Perfect for 5 inch Charm Packs, the Flying Kite Quilt uses 2 Packages plus Background yardage to make a crib sized quilt. One block can make a pillow or three blocks can make a table runner.

Instruction on “webbing” a block and/or a quilt will also be provided during the three weeks.  Tues. 1-3pm Feb. 11, 18, March 10

$90 includes pattern and charm pack.

Hawaiian Applique with Blaire

This class is designed for those who have always wanted to try applique and appreciate the beautiful Hawaiian interpretation of whole-cloth quilting. Traditional Hawaiian applique techniques from cutting the pattern to layering and basting the applique to the background are central to making the applique process an easy and relaxing one. In this class, you will learn to cut large background blocks & a pattern, position the pattern accurately on the background fabric and use simple basting stitches to align the applique to the background & as a guide for needle-turn applique. Basting means no pins & no catching your applique thread or drawing blood. This preparation makes the applique process an easily portable and pick-up/put-down project. In class, we will also discuss ways to complete your individual blocks into completed projects. No sense starting another project just to add it to your UFO pile!

Sunday, March 22, 12-4pm.  $40 plus materials
