Summer Time and The Living Is Easy (and Fun!)
July is one of my favorite months to live and work in Wickford Village. We kick off the month with the Fourth of July fireworks at the town beach, then move right into the Wickford Art Festival and continue on with Harbor Lights, concerts and movies on the beach. There is such creativity in this community that it makes me proud to be a part of it!
What other community would offer a mermen calendar to raise funds for a playground? Check it out at https://www.newenglandquahogfestival.com/mermen-calendar.html
With all this activity I love to throw on an easy dress in the morning or a cover up and pull on pant over my bathing suit. I especially love colorful, printed dresses. Florals, geometrics or my favorite this year Dutch Wax prints with African motifs. These bright, bold patterns make me happy. Some of my favorite dress patterns are Merchant & Mills Trapeze dress, Indygo Junction’s Shift Dress and Sew House Seven’s slip dress.
The basic beach cover-up is fun in floral, nautical and geometric prints. I like to pair it with a coordinate pattern or lace pull on pant. With a quick shower I can leave the beach and go directly out to a casual dinner to avoid the beach traffic. Summer is all about comfort and ease! The sewing patterns need not be expensive, it’s the fabric choice that makes the garment. We used Simplicity Patterns, New Look A6292 and Sew Simple A1048.

During the summer we are open Monday – Friday, 10am-5pm.
This just in….
We’ve received so many calls asking for single session workshops this summer that we decided to add them to our schedule. The workshops will run 10am-1pm or 2-5pm each week, (please see our calendar for exact dates and times). We are currently offering the following menu of workshops. Each workshop is $30 and all materials are included.
