Suzanne has been sewing for over 50 years. She began sewing as a child at home with her mom. She pursued an education in clothing design and construction earning a BFA in Apparel Design at Rhode Island School of Design. She worked in the Fashion Industry in New York City, then earned a Masters in Education at NYU. She was an adjunct professor at RISD for 16 years, combining her two loves; teaching and fashion.
Looking for a change of pace, Suzanne decided to branch out on her own in the summer of 2016. Seeing that there was a lack of sewing instruction in her community, Suzanne decided to create a maker's space so that she could share her love of sewing with students of many ages. The-Sew-Op was developed to be a community space where students could learn to sew or complete projects on their own. We offer individual or small group instruction, as well as seasonal workshop sessions. We have since branched out into quilting and offer several technique and project based classes.
In the Spring of 2019 we decided to engage in retail offerings such as patterns, fabrics and notions. As a resident of North Kingstown, Suzanne is very excited to offer this community space in the heart of Wickford Village.
