Creative Play with Vintage & Contemporary Fabrics - Free Lecture
Blaire Gagnon, a quilter with over 40-years’ experience, loves rescuing vintage fabrics, linens, embroideries, doilies and quilt blocks and tops. She has learned how to clean vintage textiles and is constantly experimenting on how to incorporate them into her creative practice. Vintage embroideries & cross stitches can be cut up and used to make pincushions. Stained, loose weave linens become foundations for improvisational collages. Cotton doilies are colored with Inktense blocks. Beautiful quilt tops become finished quilts. Blaire will have a variety of both machine and hand-worked samples for you to view and discuss including tri-fold pouches that are perfect beginner projects so you too can expand your creative practice using vintage items. Blaire is also a longarmer so if you have questions feel free to bring those along too.
